Lorraine M. Wright, RN, PhD

Dr.Wright is Professor Emeritus of Nursing, University of Calgary. Her clinical and research interests include illness narratives, family interventions, illness beliefs, suffering and spirituality. She is a member of the Canadian Nurses Association, American Family Therapy Academy and a Clinical Member, Approved Supervisor, and Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Wright is a graduate of the Calgary General Hospital, the University of Alberta, the University of Hawaii, and Brigham Young University. Dr. Wright has authored Spirituality, Suffering, and Illness: Ideas for Healing, has co-authored Beliefs: The Heart of Healing in Families and Illness, and coedited the Cutting Edge of Family Nursing.

Maureen Leahey, RN, PhD

Dr. Leahey is Manager, Mental Health Outpatient Program and faculty member in the Family Therapy Training Program, Calgary Health Region, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor, Faculty of Nursing, and Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. She is a Registered Psychologist and a Clinical Member, Approved Supervisor, and Fellow in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Leahey is a graduate of Cornell University - New York Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Calgary.

More About Drs. Wright and Leahey

Both Drs. Wright and Leahey have presented papers extensively at national and international nursing, family health, and family therapy conferences. They have been published widely in numerous nursing and family journals, written Nurses and Families: A Guide to Family Assessment and Intervention and coedited the three-volume Family Nursing Series: Families and Life Threatening Illness, Families and Chronic Illness, and Families and Psychosocial Problems. Both have more than 25 years of direct clinical experience working with families experiencing serious illness. Both supervise, teach, consult, write, and maintain a part-time clinical practice in individual, couple, and family therapy.
